Should I skip a level of French?

Is this a good idea?? at our school, we have french 1, french 2, french 3 french 4, french 5, AP french. French 5 and AP french are basically a regular/honors relationship so most people take either 5 or AP.. french 5 is not a prerequisite of AP french.

I am however a rising junior and will be taking french 3. i have been told that French 3 is crucial whereas french 4 is not as important in the long run. I am deciding whether to study french 4 over the summer and skip to AP french or not... will this be too hard for me?? especially because the AP exam for French is really hard..

At my school, French 4 is really just cultural/review stuff. Nothing new is learned in it, but AP French is not offered here so we can't skip it.

The AP test is REALLY hard. I was going to self-study it and once I looked at it.... no way. You should find out if the AP French students at your school have generally done well on the test, and if the teacher is a good teacher. If so, then I think you should study French 4 over the summer and take AP in your senior year. If you are good at French, then go for it.
