Hey guys, I’m currently a freshmen going to Penn State University park and I want to try to transfer to UPenn.
I’m was thinking about trying to transferring sophomore year to get in junior year for Upenn. However, it was said on Upenn’s website that they suggest transfer applicants to transfer for sophomore year as there will be even more limited space for those who may try for junior year. So, now I’m just unsure whether or not I should try to rush everything now or try next year when I will have everything more perfect. I couldn’t find any data online on the amount of juniors who transferred in :/.
For some pretext, I went to a really good high school near philadelphia that sent a ton of people to ivies each year ( like 15 to upenn this year). I applied early decision last year and was waitlisted then rejected.
3.6/4.0 gpa unweighted
4.03/4.20 weighted.
Sophomore Year: Ap chem (3)
Junior year: Ap physics B (4)
Senior year: BC Calc (4)
Ap Stat(4)
Ap Micro(3)
Ap english 4 (3)
Ap environmental(5)
I got a B in BC calc and ap environmental, but other than that the rest were As for senior year.
For my test scores,
ACT: 30 Composite
34 English
31 Math
29 Reading
25 Science
SAT: First time: 1960 (650 CR, 650 Math, 660 Writing)
Second time: 2010 (710 CR, 680 Math, 620 Writing)
Superscore: 2050
Sat 2:
Math 2: 680……………… ( Long story short, I was going to take the regular sat, but had to swap to Sat 2 four days before, leaving me no time to prepare well. I was thinking of bringing my sat up and not take sat 2, but parents and cousins advised me otherwise. So planning went awry.)
Anyhow, what do you think I should do? Should I rush all my stuff and try for it this year? I won’t have anytime to improve my scores and send it if I do so… I personally think it would be best next year, but I also want your opinions. As a side note, if I’m to try next year, which one should I retake? The SAT so I can get a better score on the new one? Or SAT 2 so I could improve my math 2 and add physics in along?
Thanks for reading this far! I’m open to any opinions.
