I need an advice from someone who's doing engineering. I am currently a student at NIU, and I love it there. However, some people told me that I should transfer to a better college such as U of I. I am undecided now, however, I am planning to stay at NIU for four years, and then go to U of I for PhD, or master in engineering. What would you do? would you transfer? or would you stay at NIU? In addition to everything, I got a pretty good scholarship at NIU, I do not pay anything so basically I go to college for free.

Stay at NIU, get as close to a 4.0 GPA as possible then apply to grad school at U of I and you will likely get full funding there.

So you love NIU, you barely pay anything for college, and you’re doing well in school? Why do you want to transfer again?

^ This.

So now you’re going to take “some [other] people’s” advice? You’re a smart kid, obviously, and you’re worried about what other people say?

Have a little more confidence in your own evaluative skills and in your own experience, OP. Good engineering education can be acquired at an awful lot of schools, but very few of those schools are going to cost you and your family next to nothing. You made the right decision to go to NIU, obviously; what does it matter what other people say?

Thanks for all these awesome advices.
