s was waitlisted at NU Engneering. he was accepted into UMich and Carnegie Mellon. he is going to major in engineering (hasn't decided what field), and probabely minor in economics.

any suggestions if it is worth to keep on wl. Thx in advance.

It doesn't hurt to stay on the waitlist, if he wants to, but your son needs to be realistic and understand that the chances of a spot opening up for him at NU are pretty slim.

Fortunately he has two excellent schools to choose from. Either UMich or CMU will give him an excellent engineering education. Now he needs to get excited about attending one of them.

it totally depends on your son. what is he looking for: we are very different than both mich and cmu. what is his major: comp sci at cmu is supposed to be sick. can't hurt though if he even thinks he might rather be at nu

Thanks for the advice. S loves computer but he doesn't want to major in computer science. He is thinking of ChemE or Elec. E.

In terms of engineering, UM and CMU rank higher than NU, but in general, NU has better reputation and better school spirit and social life. He will choose to enroll UM or CMU and remain on wl for NU.

Do you know if NU provides any financial aids for wl students?

I got off the WL at NU, was also accepted at CMU and UMich (but for econ). CMU and MIch decided that we had sufficient means to pay for their tuition (no financial aid at all) while NU gave me the best financial aid out of all the colleges I applied to (~20k in grants).
