Should I stay or should I go home?

I have been incredibly indecisive lately most likely due to stress. This weekend I have the option of going home or staying on camps. I can see the positives and negatives of both situations but I am having such a difficult time making a choice. This past weekend I went home and next weekend I already I know I will be staying due to an event at school. This weekend I have no planned events or appointments. Some positives of going home are: catching up on sleep, home cooked meals, less stress, seeing my dog, seeing my family, etc. Some negatives of going home are: less homework is done, feeling guilty that I went home and didn’t attempt to stay on campus. Then if I stay on campus some positives are: homework getting done in a more timely manner, college experience, etc. Some negatives include: stressful, less sleep, feeling lonely, crappy food, etc.
I could really benefit from a level headed person to tell me which to pick. Please let me know your thoughts. I think I am just so overwhelmed at this point. Thank you in advance! PLEASE HELP!

Best of both worlds - Go home and get your homework done.

Any chance your family could come visit you? Go out to a nice lunch or dinner and spend some time with them but still have time for your studies and friends.

Meet your parents somewhere for a hike with the dogs and some lunch. Then go back to campus

The bigger issue is you need to figure out how to solve these challenges living on campus: crappy food, feeling lonely, less sleep. Stay on campus and be determined to figure out ways to eat better food, be around people, and get more sleep. If you tackle those one weekend at a time then within a month your life can be transformed and you will be a happier student.

Are there decent affordable restaurants nearby, or some that deliver? Is there a community kitchen where you can prepare your own meals? Have you tried some new activities, perhaps involving sports and fitness, where you can meet more people? Are there religious groups you might want to get involved with on the weekends? Have you attempted to live according to a set sleep schedule on the weekends?

As long as you keep going home to the protection there, you will struggle to establish yourself and your own life. Don’t drag out the process any longer. Face the challenges head on. You will learn important life skills that will help you throughout life, whenever you are faced with living in new places and situations. It is all a part of learning to take care of yourself, keep yourself healthy, and create a life for yourself. Students don’t realize when they go to college that they will be learning much more than their major – these life skills are among the most important things you can learn.

I feel for you. Our daughter is missing her dog an awful lot, and so she attended an on-campus info session yesterday about volunteering at the local humane society. The h.s. environment sounded depressing to her, so I’m left wondering when we might make the 6-hour round-trip with our dachshund. There’s no easy solution.
