I have made it my Goal to attend Columbia University since 8th grade. I visited the campus and I feel like I belong there. I believe I have worked hard in high school
3.9 GPA Unweighted 4.1 Weighted (will definently be higher by end of year)
"hard Classes taken"
Spanish 1-4, AP World (got a 5), AP US (got a 4), AP Psych (got a 5), AP English Comp, AP Chem (got a 2-yikes), AP Biology, AP Physics, AP Calculus AB, AP Comparative Gov, AP Literature. My only B has been AP Chem
E.C's
Student Council President, 2 time Cross Country Captain, (hopefully) track captain, NHS, Student Advancement Committee member, international student advisor, school paper opinions writer, Indoor Track, community service club

Here is the problem.
SAT
Reading: 650
Writing: 630
Math:590

ACT+Writing Composite: 29

I am taking the SAT again and am shooting for a 700, 700, 630. What do you think my chances are guys?

I plan on applying Early Decision to Columbia with hopes to be a Biochemsitry major

I don’t care if you had a 2.0 GPA. NEVER tell yourself no.

I think you should reword your question from “should I apply” to “what are my chances with that SAT” (which is kind of what you’re saying.)

However, I don’t believe you shouldn’t apply even if your next SAT is a 1100.

Right now, I’d work hard on the SAT to get it above a 2100. By Columbia’s ‘stats’ you need like a 2200+ with a 3.9+ and nationally ranked EC’s. However, personal statements do wonders and an amazing story can overcompensate for low stats.

No matter what you get, if its your dream, it wouldn’t hurt applying (maybe the $80 will but that’s it). Aim high on your SAT and add some meaning into your application (along with some crazy EC’s) and you’ll have a chance:)

I agree ^^
you never know if you don’t try. It’s worth a shot as your credentials outside of your scores sound exceptional.

Hello every one, i’m an international student from Bangladesh. I too for some reason had this thing for columbia (dont exactly know why) i was thinking of applying this year, but my problem is the same, my SAT scores are almost a ditto with markoscar258. I do have ECAs and somewhat interesting life stories, and I studied in a school with a Bangla language curriculum all my life. And on top of all that i’ll need some financial aid. What do guys think are my chances? Thanks :)
