1240 and 1250 on the SAT. 1290 superscored.

I know my scores and grades are lower than my competition, but I think my passions and interests define me more than the numbers do. I’m very interested in politics and hope to hold office sometime in the future. My interests reflect this since I’m an officer in Model United Nations and have one two awards for best position paper and one award for best delegate.

Georgetown is my dream school and I believe it can facilitate my chances of entering government in the future. I plan on getting my JD after undergrad and obtaining my CPA for accounting so I can work in tax/corporate law. As you can see, I’m a student who’s driven and plans ahead. I challenge myself in classes and take a keen interest in them. Is it worth applying to Georgetown even though I’m on the short end of the stick? Thank you for your time!

Yes, you should apply. That is a definite. But, it will be difficult to get in with your stats. You have strong and focused EC’s, but you don’t really have any “hooks”. Your GPA is low, which you already know, but that is pretty fixed at this point. I’d suggest spending a lot of time this summer to focus on your SAT, look into the ACT, and prepare as much as possible. Set your target score as a 32, or a 1450 on the SAT, and work really hard to get close (it isn’t going to be easy, but once you fix some silly mistakes, get used to the timing, and then enhance your skills, you will do much better). I wish you the best of luck. You should always apply whether or not your chances are good, which also applies to many other things life.

It never hurts to apply. Also there is a new SAT date in August so you can retake the sat then. You could always vastly improve your chances by getting great teacher recommendations and writing a good essay/supplement. Good Luck! It is a great school!

You should apply but first you must get your SAT (or ACT) score up plus you must also take 3 Subject Tests.

Your chances are very low, I’m sorry to say. While Georgetown is holistic, they look heavily at grades and scores- also, you’re missing the 3 required sat IIs. Your ECs also seem very common among georgetown applicants.
