I'm an international transfer applicant from Brazil and I'm considering transfer to Dickinson this fall. The deadline is 04/01. We do not calculate GPA here in Brazil but I tried to estimate one:

HS GPA: 3.75/4.0

1st year College GPA: 3.54/4.0

ACT score = 27 ( I just took it once and it's been 4 years since I graduated from HS; don't know if they will consider this, though)

TOEFL = scores come out in two weeks.

I need full ride and my advisor here in Brazil said that it's pretty much impossible to intl transfers to receive full financial aid from US colleges. I'm also appyling to Tufts and Brown and sent an e-mail to all 3 universities about their fin aid process. Tufts and Brown said that although the competition is quite keen, it's possible for me to receive full financial aid, but as my advisor told me, Dickinson said that is rare for intl's to receive full ride and if I decide to apply it will be very difficult for me to be accepted. I really can't waste money, so do you guys think I should still apply to Dickinson and see how it goes? Thanks!

Have you reviewed this page? It looks like they recommend a minimum ACT of 32 for international students expecting to get substantial financial aid. Although not sure how they will consider this for a transfer student. But it is generally more difficult to get good financial aid as a sophomore in general, I suspect.

If the admissions office discouraged you (as your post seems to indicate), then I would not waste your money. Just my opinion, of course.

I recall that you posted out here about a year ago. I just looked at your thread, and you said you hadn’t taken the ACT yet. And that you concluded you were going to pick somewhere else (Occidental or Lafayette) to apply to instead of Dickinson. What about those two options?

I’ll apply to just Tufts and Brown then. I know they are a top reach, but they are the only options I have left that offer fin aid to intl’s transfers and didn’t discourage me to apply.

Occidental follows the same policy as Dickinson and Lafayette does not offer financial aid to international transfer students.
