Should I study at Middlebury if I want to do something like Journalism or Communication?

I recently got accepted into Middlebury and I can’t be any happier! The thing is my parents aren’t too keen on me going because us being from outside the United States, they don’t really know Midd and Vermont in general. Another issue is that I’m thinking of doing something related to Journalism or Mass Communication but Midd does not offer any of those. I’m thinking of instead doing Film & Media Culture but I’m scared that it’s too focused on film theory and not much on anything else that Journ and Comm programs in other colleges offer. I know I always have the option of taking various courses that may be related but I was just wondering if in general, it would be a good idea for me to go to Middlebury.

Your advice would be very much appreciated. Please and thank you

What are your other choices? Can your family afford Midd, or is it a stretch financially?

@intparent I am still waiting for other college decisions but right now I am choosing between Middlebury and UFlorida (which is ranked as one of the best in the country for Journalism). I was offered generous financial aid packages from both institutions - even though MIddlebury would require some more family contribution due to its higher fees. However, it is really just the academic offerings that I’m worried about. Thanks!

Study English at Midd you’ll be all set for grad school. Midd has a particularly strong program in environmental journalism.
