I am a sophmore, and I have already take the PSATs. (My results were dismal). I want to raise my score to about 50 points and I only have 10 months to do so.
If I studied using SAT prep books, would that prepare me for the PSATs?

Yes, SAT prep books will prepare you for the PSAT.

i picked up two psat books to review, i think they will gear you properly as they are specifically for that – also preparing you for the SATs at the same time. using it in reverse may hurt you because the SATs may emphasize on things that aren’t sa relevant in the PSATs, writing essays, etc

I’m a sophomore too.

I just used SAT books and took full-length practice SAT’s every night for a week before the PSAT and I got a 234… even with careless errors.
The PSAT seemed a lot easier because the SAT’s were a bit tougher, and the SAT practice books trained up my mental stamina and I got a much better idea of what to expect.

It helps a lot more than a PSAT book.

I used SAT books too, and got a 232. Just ignore the essay parts for now and you should be fine. SAT books also give you more practice. However, I would recommend that you get a PSAT book about a month before the PSAT to familiarize yourself with the format

Hope it helps
