I'm not sure if I should submit a supplement containing my photography to Stanford; the "exceptional" talent part kind of scares me. I feel very passionate about photography and have devoted a lot of time to it outside of school. Though my parents are well-off, they do not support my photography (I had to pay for camera myself-- there went $1000 of babysitting money -____-). I have not won any major awards individually (just a few local) but have submitted work to my HS arts magazine that won a Columbia silver crown award. I got a 4 on the AP.

I would really appreciate honest critiques of my work. Please let me know if I should or should not submit my work. Here is the link to my portfolio: Flickr: reenysinghasong's Photostream

Just FYI, I am applying as a biochemistry or neurobio major. Otherwise my stats are strong (4.0; 2380 SAT; 800, 800, 750 SAT IIs; rigourous course load at competitive high school; etc.)

Sorry for posting this in multiple threads!! and again, thank you very much to anyone who replies :)

Yes, I think you should. I honestly feel like submitting an arts supplement helps an enormous amountâI donât have any experience with the visual arts supplement, but when I applied I submitted a performing arts supplement. There have been four people (including me) to go to Stanford from my high school, and three of them submitted performing arts supplements. I think it just adds depth to your application and shows them youâre interested in more than your GPA and school clubs.
And the âexceptional talentâ part is supposed to scare youâif everyone whoâd ever done any type of art submitted a supplement theyâd never be able to look at them all. They only want people who are really serious about their work, and it seems like you definitely are.

Yes like the above poster stated, go ahead!!

I really like the pictures. The ones of nature scenes are beautiful and Iâm sure the admissions staff will appreciate it. However your decision is the most important. Donât let some random poster, such as myself, sway your decisions.

Iâm no photographer, but I really like Rust, CD, and Panoramic. Panoramic especially makes me feel the desolation of that scene. It seems like youâre a pretty talented artist. Send 'em!

Guys, OP posted this in 2011. Let this thread die.
