should I submit another essay for Columbia under additional information?

I know they "prefer" that I do not submit another essay; however, I believe that this additional essay will give them a broader perspective on the specific studies I am interested in pursuing as well as what fostered that interest in me. Will they be annoyed by ad. essay if its not long? Has anyone in here done it before?

Yea, dude. You should write a book about yourself and send it in as a supplement.

I never said anything about writing a book. I asked whether submitting an additional short essay would be a big deal. I could not understand your response to be honest.

lol I think Crooked is kidding... You do NOT want to send them anything else like that. they will just get annoyed.

No. They have enough essays to read. That's particularly true when they tell you not to. In this case, read "prefer" to mean "don't."

Ruskie are you Russian?

You can submit anything you want to submit. Most likely you will not annoy them; so, there's nothing to lose besides their reading of it, which you wouldn't have had a chance at if you hadn't sent anything in.

I did do this, but for me it was more of a writing sample because I had won a few writing awards. I basically emailed my regional admissions officer and told him "Hi, I recently won blablabla and would like to send the piece I wrote as additional information. I know Columbia doesn't usually prefer this but would it be ok if I sent it?" and he responded "Sure go ahead."

So I would say ask your admissions officer.

I'm Uzbek and Russian
