I am applying into architecture major for Columbia University under early decision. Is it worth it to submit architectural based artwork if it is truly good quality (I got a 5 on the AP test with it).

The other thing I wanted to know is if it is worth bringing this artwork to an interview.

Based on years of research reading MAD magazine, I think you could probably just do some doodles in the margins of your application and leave it at that. Maybe add a fold-in on the last page.

But why do you want to major in architecture? Mike Brady was an architect and he had his wife, maid, and six kids all living in a three-bedroom house.

As I’m sure you know, Columbia ED is VERY competitive, so you should be doing everything you can to increase your chances of admission. With a score of 5 on your AP-Studio Art portfolio, you obviously are very talented in that area, and since that is directly related to your intended major, it seems like a no-brainer to me –> Submit an arts supplement.

I have no personal knowledge of Columbia’s interview process. But again, it certainly couldn’t hurt to bring some of your drawings along (assuming you have some in 8.5x11 size or can get copies of them made in that size). It will help you stand out from the other candidates your interviewer will be talking to.
