Hi! Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.
I did fine on my first go in October:
CR770 M720 M730
But, I was disappointed in math, so I retook in December, had a hugely off day (I knew it walking out of the test), and got:
CR650 M800 W640
The CR and W the second test are obviously disappointing.
I really do not want to take them again.
For schools that only look at high scores (Type 2 Superscoring… only see the high scores), I think I’m good.
For schools that look at all scores, then it is what it is.
The question is… for those that Type 1 Superscore (use high scores, but see them all), should I send both sets of scores or only the first?
Personally, I would send in both. Just because your second score is worse than your first doesn’t mean that it’s bad; both of your scores are decent and your improved math score is stellar.
Just use superscores. Frankly, if you apply to any colleges that require both sets of scores, Tufts being one I believe, then you don’t have a lot of choice. DO NOT take the test again. College Board has stats on their website that show that students who already have high scores will very often do worse on subsequent attempts. Clearly you are bright. Don’t flog a dead horse. In fact, I have to wonder why you took it again. At that level, an extra ten points is inconsequential. You still need the good grades and ECs for the top schools.
Hard to believe you retook with a 2220 to start with.
Oh… I was not planning on taking it again. I’m moving on and focussing on school, etc…
Thank you for you advice!
I retook it to try to get my math score up since I haven’t entirely ruled out engineering programs. I am still pretty undecided… I was just trying to keep my options open. Now I am not sure what to do with the new numbers. I can use Score Choice at most of the schools I’m looking at. Maybe I’ll send only the first set to the liberal arts schools and both to engineering programs.
