Hello, here is my situation. On my May SAT I got a 1990: Math 740/CR 660/Writing 590. My Math and CR exceeded my expectations but I bombed the writing. On my June SAT I got a 1970: Math 710/CR 570/Writing 690. I really improved on writing but my Math+CR Score went from a 1400 to a 1280 because I was really focusing on the writing. Should I submit both scores to get the 2090 Superscore or just the first and stick with the 1990?

It will depend on the school come time to apply so you’ll just have to follow their instructions. Some will require both score reports but consider only the Superscore (2090), and others will require both scores but consider only your best sitting (1990). There is no real advantage either way since almost everybody’s Superscore will be a bit inflated, and vice versa.

Now, you might say, if you’re going to use the Superscore, why not just concentrate really hard on one section to get 800 each time and purposely bomb the other sections? Well a couple of reasons - even the Superscore schools look at all sittings and also, this is definitely **not **going to help for the other half of schools you apply to that don’t Superscore.

Try saying “Superscore school” 10 times in a row. It’s not easy! ;)

it depends on the college. some colleges value writing as an important factor in your sat score, and others couldn’t care less about writing. if ur applying to a school that cares mostly about math and reading, stick with that 1400, its a great score.
