Should I submit my ACT to a test optional school?

I’m not sure if it would help me or not. The range for the school for ACT 28-31. I have a 27. My weighted GPA is like a 3.75 while the weighted average is a 3.9. Obviously this is a reach for me, but would my act help or hurt?

I don’t think your ACT would help.

Agree, since you are below the 25th percentile I would not send.

The beauty of a test optional school is that a good student like you with great grades is not hurt by “low” test scores. Do not send.

@Houston1021 @happy1 yeah I just don’t know though because my act is only 1 point off of the average, but my weigted GPA is a 3.75- 3.8 something (I need to double check) which is also like .1 off the average. Is it still best not to send it?

Your score would be in the bottom quartile of accepted students, usually a category reserved for applicants with some type of hook. Sending the score will not bolster your application, it weakens it. If the mid 50 is 28-31, probably best to send only if you have a 29+.
But how selective is this school? That is also a factor.

@Futuremed17 Your ACT is not 1 point off the average. The range given is the 25th percentile and 75th percentile. You are one point below the 25% mark. The average or 50th percentile would probably be a 29-30, I would not submit. But in the end it is your application and your decision.

Do not send.

@happy1 @newjerseygirl98 @wisteria100 thanks guys I just sent it w/out the score!:slight_smile:

Good luck! @Futuremed17
