Should I submit my research paper as a supplement to Yale?

I won the Young Scientist Award at Intel ISEF for a project I did in environmental science, but I was wondering whether or not I am obligated to submit a research paper as supplementary material. I don't think my paper is as good quality as my presentation/board was at Intel, so personally, I would rather not submit it. However, I don't want it to work against me if I don't. Should I submit my paper anyway, or should I just submit my abstract from intel isef (only 200 words, so it would be a quick read), or should I not submit anything at all? Thanks!

well, it does not matter because you are asian; so you probably won’t get in even if you turned water into wine

^lol.

I would show it to a science teacher/professor, and see what they say. I don’t think it would hurt you not to send it in, but sending it, if it’s really great, could give you the push you need.

You know, I’m wondering about the exact same thing. For me, I actually forgot to explain what my project was exactly AND I already sent in my application. It sucks. Should I send in my paper on monday and hope they take it, or does it even matter whether you send in research paper or not??

I don’t think you’re “obliged” necessarily, but I don’t know if it’s expected or if it helps.

“obligated”*
:D

hey now, dlbecker, don’t say that. I know it’s meant to be funny, but I’m not sure the OP needs that.

wasian girl, you should certainly submit something of this project, you just need to know the format and procedure. I think you should call Yale Admissions and just ask! They are friendly and knowledgeable. Don’t be scared, people are on board to field questions like this.

And as soon as you get an answer, please post it for others who might be wondering.

Best of Luck, and congratulations on your achievement!

Hello OP!

It was my understanding that for any Supplementary Materials to be sent, it had to be marked beforehand in the Common App Supplemental and that all Supplementary Materials had to be sent in by November 1st.

Here’s a link:

[Supplementary Materials | Application to Yale College | Freshmen | Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.yale.edu/admit/freshmen/application/supplementary.html)

"Applicants submitting supplementary academic work must also check the appropriate box in Section VI of the Yale Supplement to the Common Application, titled “Supplementary Material (Optional).”

“(November 1 for Single-Choice Early Action candidates; December 31 for Regular Decision candidates; March 1 for transfer candidates). **Materials submitted after the deadline will not be considered.”

Okay, sorry, you’re not “obligated”:).
