Well I'm a URM applying to several great schools. However, I'm in quite the predicament. I can't decide if I want to send my SAT and ACT scores to the schools, or just the ACT.

Schools I'm applying to:
-UVA(R/M)
-Tech(S)
-Vanderbilt(R/M)
-Clemson(S)
-Duke(R)
-Stanford(Huge Reach)
-James Madison University(S)
-Georgia Tech(M)

I know that my SAT II in Chemistry will help me, but my Math IIC will hurt me. My ACT is in the general 50% range for all of the "reach" schools listed, so I know that that would be more beneficial since my SAT is in the lower quartile.

Would it be better for me to only submit my ACT? I was also worried that colleges look down on the ACT in comparison to the SAT. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Duke and Stanford are both pretty reachish. I would send both scores; your SAT II math is pretty much in line with Math I score. You have a great chemistry score. Colleges look at the highest SAT/ACT score; thats what they say; I would not assume that they are lying.

I'm aware that they are both big reaches. I know that I could do better on the Math IIC, since I didn't study for the first time. I'm going to try to do standby testing next week to retake it. I don't understand what you mean by the Math IIC is inline with the Math I, since 650 is the average score for MathIIC, whereas my 710 is in the 95 percentile.

1)Your ACT scores are sooooo much more balanced than your sat, I would lean towards just sending ACT

2) your ACT math score of a 30 is considerably stronger than your 590 SAT math; just send ACT

3) Unless your schools REQUIRE SAT II's (I have no idea which one of these do)....just send ACT

4) While your SAT II in Chem looks great, I don't think it will supercede your SATI math grade....Why don't you just self report that? Can't hurt....If they really want the official score report for it, they will let you know....

5) Your reaches would be reaches either way..

I think I'm going to just go ahead and send them to all of the schools. Hopefully they won't count the 640 Math 2 or CRs against me and will take the ACT. However, I hope they use the 710 Math from regular SAT and 770 Chem SAT 2.
