Hi,
I am an international student. I took the SAT for the first time in August and got a 640 on ERW and 760 on Math. I couldn’t sit it again because there were no spaces at my local test center for the next test. I am applying to Ivies and selective universities. I have a 40+ IB score, good extracurriculars, and work experience plus high SAT subject test scores and TOEFL scores. What do you think, should I submit my SAT reasoning test?
Thanks!
If you’re going to submit other scores, you should probably submit the SAT, otherwise colleges might suspect why you didn’t. For international students, if English isn’t your first language, your 640 may be ok, though note that the averages for the ivies I think are in the high 1400s.
I disagree. I wouldn’t submit the SAT since it’s a bit off from the typical median for an Ivy League. Students have gotten in Test Optional so from the looks of it not submitting a SAT should not harm you.
No, a 1400 combined is well below the 25th percentile of all the Ivy schools, so you should choose to apply test optional.
Let me clarify, if you’re going to send in the subject test scores, you probably should send the SAT scores, since colleges will assume you took them. So either send all or send none Also this year is a little different, international applications are down, maybe even at the ivies, a 640 may not be held against you in previous years.
test optional does not only mean for one didn’t take it. I may also mean for one took it once or twice but didn’t have chance to try a higher score.
So, don’t send SAT I score. AO is looking for other good things about you.
