I’m applying to the 2015 fall semester as a transfer student, and I was curious if I should send in my SAT scores?
I have a 680 cr, 620 math, but a 580 writing which is the score I’m worried about. I considered sending it in because I got an A- in my writing course my first semester to show my growth in writing. What do you guys think?
@Sarah12345 The middle range in the most recent Common Data Set I found (class entering Fall 2013) for Smith freshmen is 630-730 for the Writing score; the numbers also show that Writing scores in the 500-599 range represented only 11.61% of the entering class (who submitted scores).
I would take advantage of their SAT-optional policy and let your good grade in the writing course speak for itself. Your scores are good but the writing score is not great and might hurt you. Unless you have 600+ in each of the three sections, I think you should not submit.
Good luck!
also the SAT Math mid- range was 610-730, so you are within the range but on the low end.
