Should I Submit My Standardized Test Score During 2020-21 Admissions Cycle?

I’m planning to apply to most, if not all, of the Ivy League schools as well as a few other extremely selective schools. The 25th percentile ACT for most of these schools is a 32. I have a 31.

To get an idea of what we’re working with here, some features on my application include an unweighted 4.0 GPA and a good amount of extracurriculars (a couple of leadership positions like Student Council President, but no spike/hook and no national awards). I’m a lower middle class Asian male living in a city of around 70,000 people. The average ACT in my city is a 20, so it’s not anything impressive but a few schools in my district have managed to send students to Harvard, Dartmouth, and Yale (two Class of 2020 students at my school are going to Yale this fall; another got into Stanford via QuestBridge, and another is going to Minerva).

I am retaking the ACT this summer (also the SAT in the fall, but that’s just because I personally want to take both tests officially). Assuming my score remains a 31, and my SAT score is mediocre, SHOULD I SUBMIT MY 31 OR NOT???

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

–You must send your test scores to any college that is not test optional.

–If a college is test optional the general rule I have heard is to send the standardized test score only if they are at or above the school’s average (which you can find from looking at the school’s common data set, class profile etc.)

If a school is test optional - no.

If standardized test scores are required - yes.
