I'm on the waiting list for Hamilton and I really want to get into the school so I just want to do everything I can before being totally rejected. Is it any use writing an e-mail to them? If so, what should I write?

If you have a guidance counselor at your school, ask him or her to intervene on your behalf.

Meanwhile, send your admissions office at Hamilton an email. Say it’s your first choice, you want to remain on the waiting list, and you absolutely will attend if accepted.

Yes.

If you can honestly say it, you can write and let the school know it is still your first choice and if accepted you will attend. Again, if it is true you can offer to come to the school for an interview or something if that will help your chances. Ask your guidance counselor to do the same. After you do that, put aside Hamilton and focus on the schools that accepted you.

…Hamilton has the rep of a school for rich, spoiled kids - better to go to your safety school…
