Should I switch from AP Lit to Honors English?

Hi, I'm going to be a senior next year and I was wondering if you all can give me some advice on whether I should switch from AP Lit to honors english.

The reasons why I wanted to take AP Lit:
- Took AP Lang last year and got a B in the 2nd semester, so I thought by taking AP Lit would show that I'm trying to improve myself
- Makes my schedule seem more rigorous
- I go to a competitive high school and taking 3--5 APs is the norm, with AP Lit included. If I don't take it, then my schedule won't be as rigorous as my classmates

The reasons why I want to take Honors English:
- More time to work on college apps, SAT (october), SAT IIs (november)
- I also have a ton of clubs to do; I have to stay afterschool EVERY DAY and won't get back home until 5pm.
- I heard the AP Lit teacher sucks and that the class was really hard
- More time for my other classes. I want to get straight A's this year to boost my gpa to a 3.73 to show upward trending, 'cause it took a really big dip b/c of AP Chem >.<. This is one of my main reasons, 'cause I want to get accepted to super good colleges (not aiming for ivies) or get good merit aid.
-I want to live my last days as a happ(ier) high schooler and not one full of stress

My other classes are:
-AP Bio (double period)
-AP micro/macro (one semester each)
-Anatomy (advanced class and is hard)
-AP Calc BC
-AP Environmental Science

I do not want to screw up my GPA any more (which is a 3.69) and I want to at least improve it. On the other hand, my schedule won't look as rigorous if I don't have AP Lit. I took 4 APs last year, and 8 exams in total (didn't get national AP scholar >.<).

Advice please! Thank you!

bummmpppppp

from your post, it sounds like you will have had at least 12 and maybe 13 ap classes by graduation depending on whether you take AP Lit. If that’s true and assuming you aren’t going to major in english or something along those lines, no school will have a problem with the rigor of your courseload regardless of your decision. getting higher grades at this point should be your goal. dropping back to honors eng will be better for you all the way around.

oic; thanks!

My AP Lit teacher is spending the 2nd week of School just doing a mini College Essay Unit, but then again my AP Lit teacher is awesome.

Your schedule already sounds killer. And as mentioned earlier, with 12 ap classes by the end of high school, the rigor of your classes should be acceptable for most ivies (even though you said youre not aiming for those schools).

I’m assuming you passed every ap test you took.

well actually, i self-studied three aps. i took 5 ap classes so far; got one 3 (SUCKS 'cause i was so close to national ap scholar >.<).

i know that if i switch ap lit to honors english would still be ok, but it’s just that there are already a bunch of people taking a lot of aps so i’m afraid that my courseload won’t seem as rigorous as theirs. for me, it’s a matter of balancing my schedule vs. taking the most rigorous workload.
