Hey guys Ive been accepted to Case Western for Computer Science. I know I can deal with Programming since I goto a Tech. High school for Computer programming :P. However I am also interested in Electrical Engineering. My question is should switch my major now? Do you guys believe that CS grad job prospects will be worse than EE? I also would like to mention that Ive looked at both course guidelines, and they are almost the same(at Case)

read that....

anyways EE>CS but sometimes EE+CS=ECE=$$

Don't base your choice of major on either the "future job prospects as they might look right now" nor the opinion of an anonymous Internet user with an open bias.

Think about this: in 2000, the "dot-com" market crashed. If you were deciding which major to choose at that time, CS would look really, really bad. But the industry has recovered and is in growth again (albeit not recklessly like it had in the late 90s). So basing a future job market on "today" is a bit risky.

Will it be in growth or recession? No one knows. One thing is certain, however: continuing technological advancement will always be here, and that means we need EE grads to design the hardware and CS grads to write the software. Neither category of employment will disappear or be less important; it's a very symbiotic relationship.

If you're worried about picking which one of the two, you might consider a double-major, as "insecure" suggested. But it's really going to come down to your personal preference and passions: hardware or software or both? With all else equal, there's your answer.

I think with an EE degree you have more options; you could get a job as a software engineer, same as CS majors do, but the door woud be open to other avenues as well. I am a s/w engr., and very many of the people in my department are EE majors.
