Should I switch of major now or when transferring?

Hey! I’m actually in a community college that I attended for 2 years and decided to switch my major from general studies to Business Administration. However, as I am going to transfer to a four-year university, I don’t know if I should switch my major now or declaring when transferring? Will it affect my GPA or is it going to stay the same? What about all classes that I took?

If you will be transferring at the junior level, you will likely have to specify your major on your applications to four year universities, regardless of what your major (if any) at your current school is.

@ucbalumnus actually, if @Partyalldays is considering a business major, the school of business has “basic” pre reqs before going into your major classes. You will have to take a little of everything(business related) before going onto your major classes. No need to stress now, just focus on getting different classes in one semester. For example, following a business schedule…
accouonting
management
marketing
operations management
that way you get a little of everything and see what you like. Hope this helped.

@savagestudent18 that’s actually what I’m doing, so should I switch now that I’m still in a community college or declare when transferring?

I would declare when transferring. By telling them you want to do something in the business field will be just fine. Just make sure to declare next semester because if not, it will be too late. After your first semester at that school, you will have a clear idea.
If you like numbers: finance or accounting
You like investment, stock market, financial planning (planning for corporations or personal) and fraud: finance major (good money)
You like taxes (for public accounting) auditing, laws (tax laws), financial planning, fraud, and anything do to with finance: accounting (best major in terms of money and job security)
You like managing people ?: management (worst major in terms of job security) you can get a recruiting or managing position in corporations/offices. example: Gieco, government (always good), any small business, banks, etc.
You like managing projects (computer, IT, softwares): MIS (management in information systems. Great job security in companies like Gieco, any IT place. Great combination of business & IT.
You like being very outgoing ? Had a job in sales ? Are you someone whose good at selling things ? : marketing. can get a recruiting job in a bank, corporation, etc. deals with social media, websites, technology in order to increase sales. Good job security depending on ability… You have to be good.

Hope this helps (:
