Should I switch schools?

I’m a ninth grader and I like my school but I have no friends and all the clubs I’ve joined are really disorganized and its not that important but we never win anything. I’m in volleyball too and I like it but I have no friends. High school isn’t what I expected at all. I’m in the math/science magnet and its not very math sciency. I’m thinking of going to this school which is farther away but is more focused on math and science. It may not seem like a big deal but my not having friends is really hurting and I’ve tried everything. And tbh I just don’t really enjoy this school. Should I move or just stay here?

Well I think that you pretty much answered your own question. You should really think hard on whether this is the thing that really is for you and you should weigh all your options. Think about other schools in your area, or even boarding schools that are further away. Talk about this with your parents and discuss what would be best for you. I think that you should the fact that you would get opportunities by going to a school with more science/math courses and that you feel like you would do better in another environment.
Going to another school does not mean that you will make friends 100% though, and I don’t think that it should be one of the reasons for wanting to make such a change. I am in a similar situation as yours, but I go to a school where I spend 4 classes a day alone, and 4 with 2 other classmates and I understand that it can be difficult, but rather than focusing on that, I have diverted my attention into taking extra classes and getting all As! I used to be negative about my school because at the time, I didn’t take any extra classes and had a lot of free time which I had nothing to do in. So I decided to take many extra classes this year and it has really helped me focus my energy on something worthwhile and positive.
But overall, I think that if you really want it, changing schools could be a very positive thing for you. If I were you, I would start applying as soon as possible if you want to go to another school next year, because depending on the school you want to apply to, some schools have different deadlines. But of course, first think about it deeply and think about whether it is the right thing for you! Good luck!

Thank you very much @swissmontenegrin‌. I have already filled up my schedule to the brim with activities and km still very lonely. Loneliness isnt the reason why I want to switch but its a big part. Also I was accepted into the school last year but I turned it down because I thought closer was better. Is there still a chance for a second acceptance?
