should i switch senior year??

So, basically, here goes: I have just started my senior year. Since 7th grade, I have gone to a very small magnet school. Technically public, but basically private. very academically rigorous (avg. gpa is like maybe 4.3), uniforms, super strict, most people haven’t done that much stuff, VERY small. Senior class of about 40 kids. Anyways, i have always hated this school for all the above mentioned reasons, and I always wished I went to a large public highschool to get the full experience. I also highly enjoy meeting new people, and it’s been the same for the past 5 years more or less. However, I was always able to continue, as I had my best friends there, so it never bothered me insanely. Now here’s the problem: My girlfriend attends a different school, and in this past week, my 2 best friends transferred out due to work (all public schools in the district more or less let seniors out at like 12 because credits are fulfilled but ours is 3 o clock). I have some friends there, but none of them are close. The people I truly care about don’t even go here anymore, and I’ve never viewed my school as more of a prison. The same small people, strict rules, absolute boredom. I’m so torn on whether I should switch to be with them or ride it out this last year. I already feel very lonely, loss of motivation for work, etc. The other problem is I don’t know how much it’ll affect college apps. I’ve taken subject tests, 33 ACT, 5 AP’s this year, 4.61 weighted gpa, extracurriculars, etc. But every day, I feel more and more confined, trapped, sad. I know a few years from now, none of this will really matter. However, I still have absolutely no idea what to do, and it’s driving me crazy. I’d appreciate it SO MUCH if someone could give me their opinion/input. Please

I wouldn’t recommend moving senior year. You have great stats, so this school must have prepared you well.
You’ll be busy with college applications and senior events; moving will only add to the stress. It really does fly by!

Alright, thanks for the input  really appreciate it. I guess I’ll just ride it out. College is in a year anyways, eh?

I had a similar experience. I hated my school so much and almost switched another but ended up staying for a couple reasons. I definitely regretted it. Senior year suck just like the rest of high school.

You need to solve these two problems:
First, if you switched, would you be able to keep the same schedule (and those seniors leaving at 12 do themselves a disservice as colleges want to see one unit each of math, English, science, social science, and foreign language, plus one extra class showing your academic interests, through senior year). Or would your new school notnoffer anything challenging for public take? If you could have a similarly challenging schedule… next problem to solve, have you secured letters of recommendation from your teachers already? If not, do your 11th grade teachers still have space to accommodate your request?
If the answer to both is ‘yes’ and you truly are miserable, then go ahead and switch.

I would definitely not switch…you will be leaving all of these friends next year anyway. You may mess up your schedule and if seniors are leaving at noon then the level of academics at that school may drive you crazy.
If you leave at noon (if that is even true) then you will not be taking enough classes and colleges WILL notice that.
Also GCs for a small school will have much better recommondations for you than in a huge school where they don’t know you.
You need to find ways to make new friends (activities/clubs) and connect with your other friends outside of school on weekends.
