My public school has 3,000 kids.
The private school has about 800ish. (If even.)

It seems I can't make friends, or get involved in anything at my school. I hate it. It's huge, theres discipline problems in the classes, the classes are big, the sports are political. My parents said if I want to go to private school they'll send me. I'm in 10th grade, and I would be switching for second semester this year.

I haven't done well at my school, bad grades.

Really depends on your personality.. I went to a private high school on a scholarship, from a very modest upbringing in a public primary school. Socially, it took me a while to get used to the new type of people I was surrounded with, but once I did everything was great and I enjoyed myself immensely. Oh, and I don't know what it will be like for you, but we didn't have girls at our school :( Academically, I didn't benefit whatsoever from being in this particular private school (even though it is one of the best in the state) because I can work independently with or without distractions around me. Hence, I didn't need the extra guidance you receive as a result of the high fees you pay (or have payed in bursary). Moreover, they didn't offer too much extension for me, in comparison to a good public school, when I was finding classes rather straight forward. The only real benefit, I think, is that private schools offer many more extra-curricular activities and clubs to be involved in, hence broadening your education in high school... Weight it all up... But just because you haven't been able to make friends yet does not mean that you won't in the future. Don't run from life's problems, face them head on, and whilst it may take time, you will get over the wall. Same goes for your grades.

if i was in your position, i'd transfer..
not because of the making friends thing. if you feel that your school doesn't offer you good opportunities, you should go for it.

oh did you make it to your volleyball team? or was it soccer?

i personally would switch if i were you. the only thing is, if your grades haven't been very good, are you sure you could get into the private school? are you making a large donation or something?

i definately have had a better experience at private school than i did at public school, even though the public school system in my town is supposedly top rate. i have found the people in my particular private school to be amazingly friendly, intelligent, and well-motivated. i obviously can't speak for all private schools but this is the trend i have seen at the other private schools in my area also
