From what I have read AP chem is difficult and I am not sure if I should take the class or not although it has been recommended to me by others. I am for sure taking AP World History though. Is it okay to take these APs in sophomore year, considering that my work ethnic it could be better.
Also I will be taking advanced math and a history elective that requires lots of work as well.
I think it’s a doable courseload, as I had those same AP courses during my sophomore year as well. However, take into consideration your ECs and other commitments that you have to allocate time to as well. Factor those into your decision.
1.) Computer Design, AC Geometry, Spanish, English 9, History 9, Chemistry, and Band
I’m also involved in other EC’s that require extensive preparation. (MUN)
2.) AC Trig, Spanish, English 9, AP World History, AP Chem (possibly), and possibly band
Also same ECs as this year
3.) Not sure what my expected GPA will be but as of now my lowest grade is an A-
You are taking English 9 two times? Also, my friend’s counselor said that in Physics (atleast at my school) they don’t teach you the math required which is Algebra 2 so they recommended for her to take AP Chem but I don’t know if that’s the case for your school.
AP Chem is a class that’s credit is versatile and large and I recommend it if it coincides with your major. The same cannot be said for AP World though.
Personally, having heard how rigorous both of the AP classes you’ve mentioned above are, I recommend taking only one AP during sophomore year because going from freshman to a college class is a huge jump and it will take time to adjust and being in two difficult AP class will be even harder to adjust.
I’m currently taking ap world and honestly its a ton of work. Like the class itself is fun and overall not hard, but it’s the notes that get me. So much reading. Also I’ve heard ap chem is like one of the hardest APs out there so unless you’re ready for that kind of course load, I would spread out those aps.
