should i take 2 sat subject tests or 3?

Hi guys! I'm currently a junior getting ready for apps... and i was wondering... cuz even the most prestigious schools (like Harvard, Princeton ,etc) now only require 2 sat subject test scores for application, is a 3rd test necessary? Cuz I took SAT LIT last November and got a 790, and i was planning on taking Math 2 and Biology this November. I'm definitely taking Math 2, but for Biology.... well I was going to take it because I took AP BIO in May and I felt that I would be ready to do SAT 2 Biology with just a little more preparation. But ive been hearing that AP BIO and SAT 2 BIO are really different... so yeah sorry for the roundabout question....

Would it be worth it to study more and take a 3rd SAT subject test (Biology)?? Or would it not make much of a difference since only 2 are needed anyways??

Student’s don’t get extra credit for taking more tests – Admissions doesn’t work like that!

Once your ACT/SAT scores and your 2 SAT Subject scores reach a certain threshold (about 700 on each sub-section), other more subjective factors come into play, such as your transcript, course rigor, teacher recommendations, essays and EC’s.

As the Academic Index for Ivy League schools only uses the top 2 SAT Subject tests scores, it’s pointless taking more SAT Subject Tests than you have to.

FWIW: Some high schools require students not taking an AP course to take the SAT Subject Test at the end of the term. So some students, like my kids, end up applying to college with 8 to 10 SAT Subject Tests, but it doesn’t give them a leg up in the process by talking all those tests.
