Take Calc BC as early as possible so you can possibly take a more advanced math course the summer after your senior year or during senior year through a community college or something like that. It’d be better to do that because most top colleges (Ivies etc.) don’t give any credit for AP Stat because they know it’s such a joke. And there’s no way you’ll be able to comprehend Physics C without taking some calculus first.

Would taking Stat over the summer be a good idea? If so, online or in person? I don’t want to self study for it because I am considering self studying macro and/or microeconomics

Im taking AP Bio right now, and while it is harder than Chemistry it isn’t THAT much harder. However, it is completely different subject matter, so it is like comparing an english class with a spanish class.

^^ Reply plz

Goodluck taking precalc and physics C lol. You need calculus for physics C.

Is taking AP Stat over the summer a good idea? This would be so I could do Honors Precalc sophomore year

Sorry, but you are obsessing.
Not all kids can fit in AP everything in the sciences. Not all schools are structured so the kid can schedule them. Adcoms know that. But in general, when you want a STEM major and a top tier school, you really should have AP calc and the highest physics you can get. Lots of kids can’t schedule AP physics til senior year, so they take AP bio or AP chem before then. Fit in AP CS as early as makes sense. No point taking it so early that you don’t do well. If that might be your major, knock yourself out. Skip AP stats and get on the calc track: H pre-calc, then as high as you qualify for and can do well in.

I think you are thinking AP stats is some advantage for a finance major- not necessarily. For a top school, you should have all 3 sciences- bio, physics, chem. It’s fine to choose between AP world and AP Euro. Stats is an extra. At my kids’ school, it was what the prior math-for-dummies kids took so they could avoid calc. Calc is more important to adcoms than most realize. IME, even if you decide to major in finance, calc is more important than stats- for what it shows about your ability to take on challenges and master them.

bump …^^ answer plz

is taking AP Calc BC senior year enough for a good school/finance major?

I’m a sophomore right now and taking AP Euro, AP Chem, and AP Calc BC at a really competitive school. It’s a lot of work, but it’s definitely manageable, and there are even several sophomores at my school taking 4 APs…
I would definitely recommend taking Calc BC as soon as possible as it’s REQUIRED as a prerequisite for AP Physics C.
Taking AP Stats over summer could work if you really want to study during your summer; it’s supposed to be one of the easier APs.

You should try to take the most rigorous schedule you take. As for me, I am taking 3 APs as a sophomore (calculus, chemistry, world history). Don’t forget that AP classes are harder than honor classes.
