Should I take 4 summer classes in a two-months session?

Hi guys, I need your honest opinion. I am planning to take 4 summer classes in a two-months session. Will it be too much? Will it be worth it? Thank you.

How often do they meet? How much reading or writing?

It’s fine to take classes that might have more class time (a lab, math) but anything that involved reading a lot, doing paper research (it might take time to get research materials sent to you) or writing papers where you have to get drafts back from the prof are hard to do in a condensed time.

Two classes meet once a week and the other two are online.
Business Finance
Small Business Management
Principles of Marketing
Comparative Religions (GE)

How many credits are each of these classes worth?

3 units

3 x 4 = 12 Which is a full load for many students for a four month semester. Cramming these classes into two months would be the equivalent of a 24 credit semester. Not recommendable for most students. Two classes would be fine. Three might be pushing it. Remember, all of the material that would be covered in a full semester will be crammed into these classes. You won’t be skipping anything just because of the shorter time period.

You would be compressing 15 weeks into 8 weeks.

Keep in mind that the government/accredidation assumes that for every academic hour in class, you need to do 2-3 hours of studying/reading/homework.

15 weeks/course x 3 class/week (1 hours/class + 2-3 study/homework hours/class) = 135-180 hours needed for a course

If you had 4 classes in 8 weeks, that would be around 20 hours/ class/week.x 4 classes = 80 hours/week

So no, don’t take 4 classes in 8 weeks (as was mentioned, that is full time for 15 weeks)

Take at most 2 classes and assume you will work on them 8 hours/day x 5 days/ week x 8 weeks…assume it is a full time job for 8 weeks.
