Should I take 4th year of chinese (AP) or first year French?

I'm doing very well in 3rd yr Chinese atm and it would make more sense for me to continue with it next year since I am Chinese but not fluent in the language. My school only offers 4th yr continuation of a language as an AP though (is it like this for all schools?) and I don't know if taking it would be the best for my GPA. I feel that I'm good enough for the proficiency test but not good enough to write essays in Chinese etc. I will have applied to college by next year but if I do poorly in AP Chinese, it might lower the chances of my being accepted.

1st year french is also an option. I'll probably get a good grade in it and I'd love to learn it but which choice looks better: taking an AP with a chance of having low grades or learning a third language?

Oh, I should also mention I've only taken 1 AP so far. I know, bad. I'm taking at least 2 next year but I might choose classes that I'll get better grades in than Chinese

1st year french =/= learning a third language. At best you will learn basic verbs and such.

I would stick to AP chinese.

AP Chinese is rly easy, the “essays” you have to write aren’t as complicated as whats expected for the other AP’s like French or Spanish

Chinese. Adds diversity to app. A lot of people “know” French or Spanish, but Chinese is cooler. I want to learn.

Chinese! One year of a language means virtually nothing and looks like you’re taking the easy way out.

Chinese. I wish my school offered Chinese, your lucky. I’m tired of seeing Spanish and French. Chinese will help you a lot more.
