I just completed my first year at a CSU. I will be going back to CC to transfer into a respectable school, and took many side steps due to the fact that I wasn't meticulous about my future in high school as most people on this website are. I also had ADHD that went undiagnosed until February and untreated until last month, and its been a huge reason why my education has always been an uphill battle.

I want to go to Berkeley for the principle of striving for perfection. I know I probably won't in the end due to my first year in college (3.0 fall GPA & 3.4 spring GPA), but keeping that mindset motivates me to achieve excellence and will probably attend UCSD. For my major (CS), I know that I have to take about 5 classes of mathematics (Calc I-III, Discrete math, & Linear algebra) just to fulfill the assist.org Recommended Courses. This not counting two more lower division CS classes and 3 GE's.

Is taking a 3rd year at CC a bad idea? Should I attempt to transfer to UCSD without fully completing the Recommended Courses? The idea that I will have to stay another year in my hometown and will be 22 by the time I complete my UC transfer is a pretty scarring thought. On the flip side it will give me time to build up world class EC's in my major (i.e. open source projects, build apps & create websites & internships), but again I want to leave my city as well.

I need an outside perspective to help make the best decisions for the next year. Thanks for any responses guys!
