Should I take ACT + Writing?

<p>I am planning on taking the June ACT. I know most colleges require the writing score from the ACT, but since I have already taken the SAT, I wondered if this still applied. (I plan on submitting both my ACT and SAT score anyway.)</p>

<p>My SAT scores were:
M: 770
W: 730 (10 essay)
CR: 660</p>

<p>Would taking the writing portion of the ACT be beneficial for me? I know I can write a 12 (on the SAT I was nervous and couldn't think straight) essay on the ACT. Would colleges see my 10 essay on the SAT and be content with that? Would they prefer a 12 ACT essay? I've heard that the only reason colleges want a writing score is to make sure you know how to write an elementary essay, in which case, I would think a 10 would be sufficient. But if a 12 on the ACT would aid my application, I would go for it. Any replies are greatly appreciated! :) :) :)</p>

<p>Colleges that require the writing section of the ACT require it regardless of whether you also have the SAT. If you submit the ACT without writing it will not be considered at all regardless of whether you also submit the SAT.</p>

<p>Just take the ACT with writing, no reason not to really. The essay score doesn’t matter that much at all if you dont completely screw up (and you already have a 10 SAT essay) and the essay is given at the end, so it won’t affect your performance on the other sections.</p>

<p>I would take ACT with writing because depending on which universities you apply to, if your overall score on the ACT is better than the SAT you might be able to use that instead. However, a lot of top schools (i.e. Ivies) only accept ACT with writing (:
