Should I Take An Honor's Course?

I am currently in the second semester of my first year of CC. After completing my 2 years here, I plan to transfer to USC. I plan to major there in Music Industry. One of the prerequisites is taking two economics (macroeconomics and microeconomics) classes and those are transferable at my school. I currently am enrolled in those regular courses and taking them. However, I recently found out that my school offers an honor's economic course and by passing the honors economics course with at least a B, the units are transfered to honors units. Anyways, here's the thing...

Is it something that will really boost my chances of getting admitted or is something like that not really that worth it? It's just going to be a smaller group of students with no tests, textbook... just an hour and a half per week working on a research paper at the end of the semester and keeping up journals, etc. The one advantage is that you do get a letter of recommendation from the instructor. I guess I am just curious what the opinion is on whether it should be taken and whether a place like USC will really take that into account much when evaluating an application. Thanks.

Course load and rigor will always be taken into context with your numerical GPA. Will it 'boost' your chances? Probably not, at least not one course alone. However, if you do well, it will prove your ability to handle more difficult coursework, and that is certainly a plus.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Currently this semester I am taking 17.5 units (18.5 if I take the honor's course) and just barely starting economics, so hopefully if I took it, along with the 2 I'm taking now, it might be taken into account. Thanks for the response!

I say, Honors is always better than just plain course.

I think that about sums it up, sofa. Plus, I think the letter of recommendation letter seals the deal, so thank you both for help reaffirming my gut feeling. While it won't give me a big boost, hopefully taking some honor's courses will help somewhat with USC.
