Due to not enough student interest, my school will not be offering AP Biology during my senior year (next year) as it normally does. Most likely, its replacement will not be an AP class.
I and some other students have raised the possibility of having an AP Computer Science course instead. The high school administration seems open to the idea, but told us that it would have to be an online course since none of the teachers can teach the class. The FLVS AP Computer Science A course seems well-regarded and interesting.
We are in California. Will the FLVS course be considered a-g certified by the UC (University of California) system? Can my high school put “AP Computer Science A” on our transcripts if we take the FLVS course? In other words, can the online course replace an actual course at my school?
(Maybe we should use the Scout computer science course instead, since it is associated with the UC system? I am hesitant to do this because the FLVS course is very well-regarded and the Scout course is rather obscure.)
I would very much appreciate any help/suggestions.
