I still have time to take another sat II (so far I have a 750 in US History and a 670 in Math II :/). On the SAT I, I got a 750 (CR) 680 (M) and 770 (W), but I know that if I take it again, I can pull off a 750 on math (last time nerves got the best of me, but I get 800s on the practice tests). If I don't take it again, my other option is taking another SAT II (perhaps Biology and Math II again, and I know I can get a 750+ in Biology and maybe the same in Math this time around). Anyway, I'm wondering which I should take? I can only take one more and I'm wondering if a better SAT score will look better or if better SAT II scores will look better for college?

Your best strategy depends to a large extend on where you’re applying, the median scores of accepted students, your intended major, and your ability to raise the math score on the SAT 1. As you read this forum I’m sure you’ll see many posts of students who “had” high scores on practice tests and then scored significantly lower on the SAT 1.

I suggest that you do this. Take 2 new (for you) practice SAT tests that are actually from the College Board. You may already have exhausted such tests (as by having gone through the Blue Book), and if that’s the case you may not be able to do this. Don’t substutue Kaplan or Priceton Review tests etc. for this effort. Take the tests under strict time conditions. Keep in mind that a 750 in math is typically 2 wrong answers – i.e. near perfection. If on both tests you get either a perfect score or 1 wrong then retaking the SAT 1 is the likely best strategy. But if you get 3 or more wrong then its not.

And if after the proposed exercise you realize that retaking the SAT 2 is the best strategy, consider including Math 2 as a retake. But study for that! A 670 score means that you had upwards of 15 (or so) wrong or unanswered questions. You may have significant gaps. Identify and work to address them.
