Should I take AP AB Calculus over the summer?

Pros:

I’ve heard that AP AB Calculus is a relatively easy course, and believe that I could do well in it

I’m almost certain I don’t want to take an intensely math-related career

AP Calculus BC is also a relatively easy course

I could take Math 2 subject test instead of Math 1

My friend is taking it

Cons

It is from 8-12, so if I took it I couldn’t be a coach, counselor, or participate in an internship

I want to do something in business, and am already taking AP Stat

What should I do?

Why not just take it during the school year?

You do not need calc for Math 2. In fact, you may be at a disadvantage if you took Math 2 too far into your calculus studies.

REALLY!?!? That’s a valid reason?
Take it during the academic year.

I can’t BC next year because this is for my senior schedule.

I don’t understand. What grade are you going into? Why don’t you just take AP Calc instead of AP Stat during the school year? If taking AP Calc over the summer means you “couldn’t be a coach, counselor, or participate in an internship” then why would you do it? It sounds that those activities are more important to you than taking AP Calc.

@IAmNotCreativ‌ In the post right above yours, the OP says that he’s going into senior year…

@coolstudent54‌ IMHO I think you should just take AB during the school year. How would colleges view a student who used up his whole summer just to take BC in his senior year instead of using it for meaningful purposes like internships, etc.?

Wait… Are you taking it online? o_o

No my school offers it for free

Take Calculus during the year and use your summer for activities (keep in mind that the most selective colleges will ask you how you spent your summer. “cramming for a calculus test” won’t cut it.)
