Should I take AP Bio and AP Chem at the same time?

Hi, I was wondering if it would be insane to take both classes at the same time during my junior year? I did very well in Bio ending each semester with over a 100% and I am in Chem right now as a sophmore and currently have a 104%. AP Bio is a class typically taken by sophmores at my school, and AP Chem is for juniors, but I'd like to take them both at the same time- since I missed out on Bio this year. I plan on majoring in either Biochemistry(or English). My schedule for next year would look like:
AP Bio
AP Chem
AP English
AP US History
Algebra 2(or precalc if I take Algebra 2 over the summer)
Spanish 3
I am a very motivated and driven student who's had a 4.0 or higher my whole life and I love school, but I'm not sure if two AP sciences would be too much. I just really don't want to leave one of them for my senior year, especially if I need to take an SAT Subject test for both.

I’m taking AP Biology and AP Chemistry at the same now (Junior) and it’s kind of challenging, it’s just that AP Biology is like 5 chapters per unit, and it’s a lot of reading–tons of reading, I’m actually studying right now lol. AP Chemistry has some memorization in it as well, but not like AP Biology. In AP Chemistry we’re on Aqueous Solutions and Solution Stoichiometry and we have to memorize the solubility rules, activity series for Redox reactions and etc. AP Chemistry can really help you understand the chemical aspect of the AP Biology curriculum. You may think like you know Biology and Chemistry because you got high A’s in both, but you’re in for a treat. These classes will get hard, in regular bio and chem, you only scratch the scratch of the AP Biology and AP Chemistry curriculum. I felt the same way, I thought AP Biology was going to be easy, but it’s not lol. Many students make this mistake when they think high of themselves and then complain how hard the AP is. Right now, AP Biology and AP Chemistry are not easy. I’m getting 4 hours+ of homework each night, and with your schedule, I feel bad for you, I really do. If you have any questions, I’m here. Also, don’t get ahead of yourself and prepare to work hard.

I was expecting it to be 98765 times more difficult than what I have done in the past, but the challenge excites me. I do have help at home I can get for any problems I run into, if I don’t understand certain concepts. Thank you so much for the advice!

I suggest taking the one you enjoy more. It will make the class tons easier if you have a genuine interest.

I’d say choose only ONE of those b/c even though the AP tests are easy; the chapter tests you take at school are probably hard. You don’t want to screw up your grades senior year, esp. your 1st semester.

AP Chem progressively gets harder in our curriculum l0l the difficulty spikes after 2nd semester while AP biology involves a lot of homework chapter reading :V

They actually have a lot of similarities. If you can do it, go for it.

The thing about AP classes is that they take a lot of time. Based on your grades, I would say that the understanding and testing parts wouldn’t be too hard, especially with some good studying, and the real qestion is whether you have enough time. Are you in a bunch of stuff outside of school or do you have to devote an extra amount of time to history or math because it’s not your strong suit? If so, assess how much time you have and how much you’re willing to spend on schoolwork, and then decide that you either will or won’t be overworked with all four of those AP’s.

i would say as long as your studying is efficient you can go for both but that would take a lot of time if you wanna do good first semester. So if you have time go for it.

I’m doing that right now also, and my classes are back to back too (1st chem, then bio), lol. It’s kinda bad when it happens to be that 2 tests in a row for both chem and bio are on the same day.

I actually have a similar schedule but not as intense as you are planning to:
-AP chem
-AP bio
-Pre-Calc H
-AP english
-USH

Gotta warn you though, APUSH would not work in your favor. I personally go against any AP history/social study courses, because, if you think about, there’s SOOO much. And half of the time, you are just plain memorizing. I got friends who regret taking APUSH. Their 1st test covers the first 10 chapters. And I’m pretty sure each of the chapters are around 50 pages each.
