So, I need some advice on whether I should take AP CALC AB over the summer and then take it again during the school year. I just finished my sophomore year, so I will be a junior when I take AB. I’ve heard that many people in my school end up failing Calc AB and end up having to take it again at a community college to replace their failing grade. I was thinking that if I took it over the summer at a community college, the material would not be so new and hard for me to grasp, so the class would be much less of a challenge during the school year and I’d be able to get an A or B in the class. However, I am also getting a job this summer, so that’s already time consuming. I don’t want this to feel like the school year again with all the stuff I have to do. So should I just do other things to prepare me for CALC AB and just have a summer job or should I take CALC AB so that I will be prepared for the class during the school year and also keep my summer job?
You can do other things to prepare for Calc AB without actually taking the course. You can self-study, watch videos on Khan Academy, find some college level/Calc AB textbooks and peruse through them.
I agree with @TheDidactic . I’m not a big fan of doing things twice. If you can get the text you will be using in advance and watch some videos, that would be helpful.
