Should I take AP Chem?

Okay how bad would it be if I took ap chem senior, but haven’t taken chem since sophomore year? The teacher isn’t really good and only two people passed the exam last year and they only got 3s. I had the teacher for chem h and she was not good and everyone complained about her, and I didn’t do so hot in the class as I finished with a 94, but I want to major in biology and go into the medical field so I feel like taking ap chem will make chem general much easier (will retake in college regardless if I pass). thanks.

I personally wouldn’t take it since your teacher isn’t that good and you probably forgot a lot of the material by now. Just taking science and math related ECs should make up for not taking AP chem.

This is the position I am in right now. The teacher is AWFUL and our school’s exam average is a 1. Also, it is only offered as double period at my school and I already have a very heavy schedule with 5 other APs. Everyone is telling me not to take it. My AP Bio teacher told me not to take it. If we had even a semi-decent teacher, I’d take it in a heart beat.

@georgie21: Since you’d take the class to preview the material, I’d take it, yes. However there may be better ways to preview the class, such as checking out if you can take it for dual enrollment at a local community college.

@shkodra14: in your case I wouldn’t. 5 AP’s for senior year is already A LOT.
If your school’s average score is a 1, then there’s not much point in taking the class. If a local community college offers it for dual enrollment you can try and take it there instead of one of the AP classes you’re taking.
