Hey guys! Picking my senior classes and I was deciding whether or not I should take that class. First of all, I got a 3 on AP Language and next year I'll be taking AP gov/econ Physics and Calc BC. Now, I don't have the best grades but I think I'm decent enough for middle UC's.
Would it be worth it to take AP lit when I'm busy with other AP's I want to focus in (AP Physics/Calc are more of a interest than English)? I also heard that AP Lit has poetry and all that, and I don't think I can keep up with that and the perennial reading.
Now sure, it may sound like Im chicken-ing out (I probably am) but is it really worth it to take the class and take the AP exam most likely knowing I won't get a 5 (Based on all my efforts on AP Lang).
I know the experience may help but I felt like I learned nothing from AP Lang even though my teacher was known to be the best. Teacher-wise the AP Lit guy gives a lot of work.
Any advise/comments would help a lot. Thanks

AP English classes helps you to be a better writer for the future in college and it also helps out in the SAt’s (if you haven’t taken it already). Also, AP is definitely important if your major and job is under the english class properties, like a journalist. So all in all, if your not great in english, dislike it, or don’t have a passion for it then don’t do it. Mostly a person get’s a 5 on the AP test if they have a genuine interest in the course. Good luck on your maths and sciences though.

Take it–AP Lit will make you a better student. If you don’t have what it takes to pass the exam, no biggy; you’ll still get a lot from the course. (I’m assuming the teacher is competent, of course, though I’m aware that’s not always a safe assumption.)
