Should I take AP Physics 1 or Honors Physics

So I’m currently preregistering for my courses for senior year and I’m currently in the dilemma of whether or not to take AP Physics. I wish to apply to some ivies and some engineering schools (MIT, etc) for my STEM major. Despite the obvious fact that AP Physics is better, I am horrified by the fact of some of the stories I’ve been hearing of that teacher. Such stories include pop tests, tests on topics unrelated to what we’re learning, 40 minute tests taken in 20 minutes, etc. Despite my guidance counselor telling me I should take AP Physics considering my major despite the fact that many others and she herself claiming that AP Physics is horrible, I feel I have no choice but to take it. Let it be known that the class average generally revolves around the 60s-80s. Any help would be appreciated.

AP Physics 1 will do you no good in your major as it is algebra-based.

For me, it would depend on the pass rate on the AP exam. If 60% get 5’s, I’d consider it. If only 10% do, I’d walk away.

I’m not exactly sure about the passing rate of the AP exam. The only information I know for certain is that the majority of the class is failing. Some people are recommending me taking it but a lot of people are also recommending against it. Being that it’s senior year I’m afraid the class will destroy my grade but I’m also worried about how colleges will view my schedule.
