Should I take AP statistics and advanced precalculus at the same time?

Hey. It's that time of the year again where I have to pick classes for next year. I am a sophmore right now and I really like math. Im in honors algebra 2 right now but I have over a 100 in the class. Next year I want to take advanced precalculus and AP statistics. My course book says that a prerequisite to AP statistics is advanced precalculus. I think im smart enough to take both at the same time because I have always loved math and it has always been my best subject by far. However I would like to as for your oppinions. Should I take AP statistics and advanced precalculus junior year at the same time even though a prerequisite to AP statistics is adcanced precalculus? Thanks!

Of course do it if your school lets you and doesn’t actually enforce that, the difficulty of actually taking the course shouldn’t be a problem though.

The thing is my high school doesn’t want me to. My teachers arent signing for me to take it, ill have to waver to get into the class.

Whatever you do, do not let them prevent you from signing up for the classes.

Take it. I’m in pre calc honors right now and I’m self studying AP Stat. So far I don’t see a whole lot of pre calc in stat. I’ve also researched online, and many say that Stat doesn’t really even need precalc.

Oh also, this sounds weird, but the school does not know what’s good for you, only you can determine that.

Yeah i looked on my state’s official public schools site and it said the official prerequisite to ap stat is alg 2. But my friend tried to do that and said that they had to go all the way to the principal and in the end they still didn’t let her take it…that’s not fair!

There’s no precalculus in AP Stat. There’s barely any algebra.

AP Statistics is not difficult, and I’m not even a math person. There’s very little math involved. Precalculus is basically algebra 2.5, maybe Algebra 3 if it’s advanced. I didn’t have trouble with it and I’m not even a math person. I think that sounds like a very doable schedule, as long as you’re aware that it could be a lot of work. If you were talking about taking, I don’t know, linear algebra and multivariable calculus in the same year, I’d be more concerned.
