So i am about to be a senior and just got my schedule for my last year of highschool
i will be taking
- AP Statistics
-AP Physics
-AP lit
-AP computer science
-AP Microeconomics
-AP Marco economics
-AP Biology
-honors government (couldn't take AP government because interfered with me having robotics)
-Robotics
-mentorship

i have a 3.896 GPA but really low SAT(bad test taker) but retaking seriously in October
I really want to go to MIT and been told should to take Calculus but i cant switch my Statistics because my schedule will not allow me to still have robotics and AP computer science if i switch. Ps. i want to become a Robotic engineer. Did i make the right choice or will mit look down on me for taking Statistics and should i change ?

Just pretend for a second that you’re not applying to MIT. Which course(s), in the long run, do you think you will enjoy the most, and benefit from the most from? There lies your answer.

You shouldn’t take a class just because it will make you look better; you should take the courses you are actually interested in. And I for one think that Computer Science and Robotics relate a lot more to robotics engineering than strictly calculus.

And in this spirit, I would encourage you to self-study the AP calc material, even if you can’t fit the course into your schedule. Most people at MIT, and a large number of people elsewhere who are interested in science or engineering, have already taken AP calculus, and you will benefit from having seen the material before starting college.

well, we require calculus of all incoming students. so you may want to consider that. mollie is right though - if you want to keep your courseload, you can always self-study (or take online/community college) calc.

I am glad for all of the comments and took your advices and dropped stats for calc though had to drop robotics(yeah i know horrible but study on my own so its fine and im in first robotics lol) and got a different engineering class i liked so this will be my schedule of fun next year
