Should I Take AP US History?

I was wondering if it was worth it to take AP US History my junior year. I heard from some people that you do lots of reading and essays but is it really hard? Please tell me your experiences with this class. Thanks!

I loved the class! at my school it is pretty difficult with a lot of reading, but it’s largely discussion based so it was really enjoyable! and once you get used to the testing/volume of reading it isn’t too bad. I’d ask some upperclassmen from your school what they thought of the teacher/class.

I took the class without a great passion for history and somewhat regret it. For one thing, at my school it is a two year course (Junior year- Honors US History, Senior Year- AP US History). For another, we are allowed a maximum of 3 Honors/AP per year, so there are classes I wish I could take but am not able to. However, I have gained great critical thinking and analytical skills that I have found useful. Also, I am able to pull random history facts in everyday conversations! I have taken a few practice AP’s and as far as the multiple choice goes, it can definitely be done.

If you truly enjoy history, take the course. If you are looking at it as just another AP class, consider something else.

Apush is not bad, its just pretty writing intensive.
