I have a conflict with my schedule and it looks like one of the solutions is to drop APUSH so I can take 2 AP science classes. I took AP Euro last year and got a 3 (could have studied harder) on the exam and got a 97 overall class average. I am definitely not going into history so should I still take APUSH or should I give myself a break this year (I’m a junior) and take AP Econ next year? I feel guilty dropping to regular US history. All my school career I have been on AP and advanced tracks for ALL my classes. This year I decided to take regular English because it wasn’t worth the drop in my GPA. Will my chances of getting into a rigorous college be damaged by not taking more AP’s my junior year?
I think that if you believe you can handle the APUSH workload, you should try doing the AP-route. However, if you have NO interest in the course material whatsoever and you’re busy with other priorities (ex. ecs, a job, more APs) you should just take a more “regular” US History class. It can give you a nice break from the heavy workloads of your other APs and from any other commitments that you have in or out of school.
Good luck!
