Hey guys! I took honors bio and got a c freshmen year because of family reasons, took chem last year and got an 85, I finally found my favorite science this year as I love Physics(on level) and am scheduled to take ap physics c next year, however due to poor freshmen grades I want to prove to tech that I can handle harder classes, I dont like memorization that much (which bio has a lot of ) and I heard college chemistry is quite hard, I dont mind the rigor as i enjoy applying math way more than conceptuals (probably why i love physics) but considering tech is an engineering school, which one would look better? Once again, I am not simply doing this for my college app as i am genuinely interested in improving my science foundation but if it improves my transcript, why not! I was leaning more towards bio as if I get an A it will maybe help compensate for my C freshmen year? Thanks for any help!
Should I take Biology+lab or Chemistry+Lab at my local college to improve chances of admission to gt
bump!
Do what interests you the most between biology and chemistry. If you might want to be a chemical engineer, college chemistry and chemistry labs will be more useful. Biology is a little less useful to most engineers, unless you want to be a mechanical engineer that designs prosthetic devices, or study drug delivery, or medical equipment design. What is your intended college major?
Most engineering programs prefer chemistry to biology. some engineering students do not even take biology but MIT requires biology to get any engineering degree there.
so it depends on what type of engineering you intend to study and what field you want to work in.
If you can take both classes, that would be best. Go ahead and try to enroll in both for the summer. That way you explore your interests better.
thank you ma’am… you are literally the only person on this website who has not completely bashed my chances of getting into tech/uga… especially for the former…
