I am a junior in high school and am currently taking Precalculus. I have the choice of taking either Calculus or AP Statistics next year. I am getting a decent grade in precalc (very high B+) but I am wondering if I should take Calculus next year because I did not do well in precalc last semester (B). I keep getting mixed reviews of the two courses from different people...

It would be really great if someone who has taken both courses could describe how rigorous each is and what type of thinking is involved in each.

I would take stat if I were you. Even if you took the course in high school, it’s likely that you’ll take it again in college anyways and stat is just easier to get better grades which is what’s really important.

In what way(s) is stats easier?

B+ and B are that different? lol, well considering pre-calc is…well…the predecessor to calculus, you might as well go the next step up right?

Other persective: Ap stats=easier w/GPA boost. Your choice

I have the same problem, so I decided to take both. Bwah.
Calculus is more rigorous and colleges generally favor it over Stat. Taking it can help you significantly if your major is science or math related and it could also help you when you have to take it in college.
AP Stat may not help you as much, its just a free and easy math AP.

Take calculus–colleges really like to see it. First semester senior year is the only one that matters anyway, and personally I found calculus MUCH easier than pre-calc.
